Parkside style meets modern luxury in the heart of it all — a new Sydney icon is offering the best of CBD living.
Developed by Deicorp and designed by Candalepas Associates, Hyde Metropolitan will stand proudly in the emerging Hyde Park South pocket, making access to all of the best of the CBD action a breeze.
Hyde Metropolitan is a new 55-level tower that will feature 168 high-ceiling apartments and two full-floor penthouses.
Parkside perfection
Hyde Metropolitan isn’t just filling a gap for buyers looking for luxury apartments, but also for those looking for the perfect mix of a city lifestyle experience.
Robert Furolo, executive manager, corporate communications, Deicorp, says Hyde Metropolitan’s location in the Hyde Park South precinct means buyers have everything they could want on their doorstep.
“The location of this building sits within the gorgeous historic precinct of the (Downing Street) courthouse and obviously Hyde Park itself,” Furolo says.
“It takes advantage of the sweeping views of Hyde Park, the CBD, Sydney Harbour, right out to the heads and beyond – that is really something quite spectacular.”
Hyde Metropolitan is located on the corner of Castlereagh Street and Liverpool Street in the Hyde Park South precinct.
In addition to access to the CBD, it is right next to Surry Hills which is famous for its restaurants, cafes, pubs and fashion.
“Hyde Metropolitan is convenient to everything that is great about Sydney,” Furolo explains. “It really is the exciting end of town. It’s walking distance to great theatres. You can catch shows at the Capital, the State and the Royal Theatres.”
Hyde Metropolitan is also right next to the new Tech Central precinct where the world’s best tech firms such as Atlassian are building exciting new premises.
“Tech Central is emerging as the most exciting addition to the city in 50 years,” Furolo says. “It will bring even more international interest and investment to Sydney, delivering opportunities for our best and brightest researchers and innovators. Hyde Metropolitan will be the perfect home-base for tech professionals and leaders of industry looking for the best Sydney has to offer.”
Sydney in the spotlight
Angus Moore, economist, realestate.com.au, says with Sydney’s CBD humming, the development will appeal to buyers keen to embrace the best of city life– from retail to restaurants, events to entertainment.
“City professionals are heading back into the office, which means they are thinking about cutting down their commutes again,” Moore adds.
Positioned next to Hyde Park and with a suite of private amenities, Hyde Metropolitan is an oasis in heart of the city.
Moore says it’s coming at a time when discerning buyers are on the hunt for luxury apartments.
“We saw units in Sydney underperform houses during the pandemic,” he says.
“We are starting to see that shift. Prices for units have held up a little bit better over the past few months than prices for houses.”
A golden vision
The design of Hyde Metropolitan is slender, elegant and timeless. Architect Angelo Candalepas explains the building will be a new landmark for the southern end of Hyde Park, providing as a gentle golden hue over this part of the skyline.
“All materials chosen are designed to enhance the effect of golden light (at sunset and sunrise) that would make the building glow suddenly at these crucial times when people reflect on the beauty of our skyline,” Candalepas says.
The building features two grand foyer entrances, one for the upper and one for the lower floors so that there is always a feeling of exclusivity. The podium on level six features a communal entertaining area, pool and gym. A central oasis garden allows for serenity and a place to escape the rush of the city.
“When inside, there should always be a sense of repose; quietness and calm; there will be a sense that this place has always been and always will be. This should be a settling sense to those that live here,” Candalepas says.
The New York-style luxury homes have sweeping views across Hyde Park, the Royal Botanic Garden and Sydney Harbour.
Most luxurious apartments are characterised by high 2.9-metre ceilings, with 4-metre ceilings in the penthouse apartments, epic views and spacious floorplans, as well as premium fittings and finishes, Candalepas explains.
“The luxuriousness of the units is in the plans which are balanced between private and public spaces and where there is always a sense of arrival as would be experienced in a house,” he says. “Lighting is meticulously considered, as in the sense of largess in the dimensions of the rooms.”
Each floor has just a small number of apartments to deliver peace and privacy. The apartments feature winter gardens that can be used all year round. Candalepas sums up that it’s all part of bringing the best of luxury to the city and giving residents a home that will stand the test of time.
“Detail is important — we take care of details that consider people first and the foibles of the current fashion last,” Candalepas says.
